At a ceremony held at the end of April in Bursa, Turkey, the Military History Museum in Dresden, Germany, was announced as the winner of the 2013 Micheletti Award. The trophy was presented to the museum’s director, Dr Matthias Rogg. Representing the Luigi Micheletti Foundation were René Capovin and Giovanni Tampalini. A strong delegation from the European Museum Academy, which was responsible for the selection and assessment of candidates, was also present.

Members of the Ohio Statehouse Holocaust Memorial Artist Selection Committee met on Monday, May 6 to select an artist to design a Holocaust Memorial on the grounds of the Ohio Statehouse in downtown Columbus.
Daniel Libeskind of Studio Daniel Libeskind in New York City was chosen by the committee, whose members include representatives from government, the arts and the Jewish community, for his design.

Planning Permission Announcement Welcomed by Maze Long Kesh

Daniel Libeskind's Micromegas (1978), made early in the celebrated architect's career and now in the SFMOMA collection, is a conceptual cornerstone of the exhibition, with its early and radical stance to the language of architecture. This deconstructionist approach opened new exploratory avenues for later architects and artists such as Lebbeus Woods, whose large-scale, immersive Conflict Space drawings (2006) will also be on view.

As the Zlota tower reaches its top floor, the Voivod Administrative Court (“WSA”) in Warsaw has reaffirmed validity of the Building Permit of Złota 44 and closed all outstanding proceedings related to the case. The construction of the skyscraper is no longer exposed to any legal risk regarding its Building Permit.
In January of each year, CTBUH publishes a review of tall building construction and statistics from the previous year. The annual story is becoming a familiar one: 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, and now 2011 have each sequentially broke the record for the most 200 meter or higher buildings completed in a given year. Studio Daniel Libeskind today announced the first lighting design by founding architect Daniel Libeskind. Created in collaboration with Austrian lighting company Zumtobel, the limited-edition eL Masterpiece chandelier is distinguished by both its striking design and the sophisticated technology that underlies it. Since it opened to the public on September 13th 2001 (it originally opened on 9/11 and then closed due to the attacks in NYC), the museum in Daniel Libeskind’s striking zig-zag building has become one of Berlin’s most frequented museums. Over 7,220,000 people from more than 40 countries have visited the Jewish Museum Berlin.
