    Daniel on BBC Dream Builders Series

    Daniel Libeskind’s first building was the Jewish Museum in Berlin. Shortly after it was opened he won a fierce competition to rebuild the most valuable and most politically charged piece of real estate in the world: Ground Zero in New York.     ZŁOTA awarded with the European Medal

    ZŁOTA has been awarded with the European Medal – Polish nationwide initiative undertaken by the European Economic and Social Committee in Brussels, Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and private entrepreneurs association – Business Centre Club.

    The European Medal is awarded to products meeting European standards. It has been granted for 13 years with the list of its laureates including biggest Polish manufacturers, banks, financial and insurance institutions, leaders of construction industry, IT and telecommunication companies as well as universities and media.

    The Military History Museum announced as the winner of the 2013 Micheletti Award!

    SUCCESS FOR THE MUSEUM OF MILITARY HISTORY!

    At a ceremony held at the end of April  in Bursa, Turkey, the Military History Museum in Dresden, Germany, was announced as the winner of the 2013 Micheletti Award. The trophy was presented to the museum’s director, Dr Matthias Rogg. Representing the Luigi Micheletti Foundation were René Capovin and Giovanni Tampalini. A strong delegation from the European Museum Academy, which was responsible for the selection and assessment of candidates, was also present.

    Daniel Libeskind Selected to Create the Ohio Statehouse Holocaust Memorial

    Members of the Ohio Statehouse Holocaust Memorial Artist Selection Committee met on Monday, May 6 to select an artist to design a Holocaust Memorial on the grounds of the Ohio Statehouse in downtown Columbus.

    Daniel Libeskind of Studio Daniel Libeskind in New York City was chosen by the committee, whose members include representatives from government, the arts and the Jewish community, for his design.

    A Year in Review: Trends of 2011 Skyscraper Completion Reaches New High for Fifth Year Running

    In January of each year, CTBUH publishes a review of tall building construction and statistics from the previous year. The annual story is becoming a familiar one: 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, and now 2011 have each sequentially broke the record for the most 200 meter or higher buildings completed in a given year. Once again, more 200 m+ buildings were completed in 2011 than in any year previous, with a total of 88 projects opening their doors (for an overview of all 200 m+ buildings, see the “Tall Buildings in Numbers” study). Shenzhen’s Kingkey 100, at 442 meters, tops the 2011 list.

    Studio Daniel Libeskind today announced the first lighting design by founding architect Daniel Libeskind. Created in collaboration with Austrian lighting company Zumtobel, the limited-edition eL Masterpiece chandelier is distinguished by both its striking design and the sophisticated technology that underlies it. The chandelier, which made its debut at Art Basel Miami Beach December 1-4 2011, is only the fourth in Zumbotel’s Masterpiece series of stylistically and technically innovative designs by leading creative figures. The other Masterpieces are Starbrick (2009), by Danish-Icelandic artist Olafur Eliasson; VorteXX (2005), by British architect Zaha Hadid; and the LQ-P-Chandelier (2005), byNew York architect and artist Hani Rashid.

    The Jewish Museum Berlin Celebrates its 10th Anniversary

    The Jewish Museum Berlin celebrated its opening 10 years ago on September 9th 2001. Since it opened to the public on September 13th 2001 (it originally opened on 9/11 and then closed due to the attacks in NYC), the museum in Daniel Libeskind’s striking zig-zag building has become one of Berlin’s most frequented museums. Over 7,220,000 people from more than 40 countries have visited the Jewish Museum Berlin.
