Libeskind Featured Speaker at the Seoul Design Fair (SDF)
Daniel Libeskind will be a featured speaker at the Seoul Design Fair (SDF) 2010 held at the Jamsil Sports Complex ( Seoul Olympic Stadium) on Saturday September 18th, 2010 at 11:30 AM. He will highlight his design for the SDF pavilion called the “The Butterfly in the Forum” and address the evolving role of architecture and design today. Mr. Libeskind’s pavilion will be displayed in conjunction with pavilion designs from Alessandro Mendini from Italy and Kim Seok-Chul from Korea. Formerly known as "Seoul Design Olympiad (SDO)," the annual design festival, which started in 2008 to commemorate Seoul's selection as World Design Capital 2010, will be held for 21 days from September 17 to October 7. "Seoul Design Fair will enhance the overall competitiveness of the country's design industry, as the event features design works of the world's top-notch designers and design houses," said Choi Kyung-ran, a design professor of Seoul's Kookmin University and the Director General of the SDF 2010. SDF 2010 will differentiate itself from previous festivals, with programs for the socially less privileged, such as a lecture on Braille design. For young and upcoming design talent in search of jobs, there will be design-related job fairs and entrepreneurship consulting services provided as part of the design fair, in the Hongdae area. Seoul Brand Exhibition will combine next-generation IT technologies with design, while Seoul Design Market will feature showrooms of leading global design companies, and also provide a market space for over 200 young designers from all over the globe.
