The HKIA 55th Anniversary Conference will explore the development of Megalopolis and its components – the architecture with particular reference to Hong Kong, Pearl River Delta region and other similar developments in the world. This whole day conference is scheduled for Saturday November 5th, 2011 at Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC).

The focus of this international conference is to study the role of memory and memorialization in the various areas of Roman culture: art, architecture, literature (including historiography), social history, and religion. Architect Daniel Libeskind will give the keynote address on October 16th at 11 AM.

The Associazione Italiana di Architettura e Critica (AIAC), with presS/Tfactory, will present the second international architectural convention: Architects Meet in Selinunte: Prospects for the Immediate Future, from March 10th to 14th 2011 in Selinunte.

Architect Daniel Libeskind will deliver 2010 Charles Atherton Memorial Lecture, discussing the symbolism and architectural expression of commemoration.

Daniel Libeskind and over 200 famous urban planners, architects, landscape architects and real estate & property developers are expected to participate for the first time in AJMAN to discuss the growing challenges and opportunities in urban planning and development.

The Buber-Rosenzweig Medal is an annual prize awarded uninterruptedly since 1968 by the DKR (German Coordinating Council of Societies for Christian-Jewish Cooperation) to individuals, initiatives, or institutions, which have actively contributed to Christian-Jewish understanding. Mr. Libeskind is the first architect to ever receive this honor.

The event is in conjunction with A HANUKKAH PROJECT: DANIEL LIBESKIND’S LINE OF FIRE, a dramatic installation featuring 40 Hanukkah lamps from the Museum’s renowned collection which is on display at The Jewish Museum November 19 through January 30, 2011.

Libeskind will present during the opening ceremony of the Exhibition “Architecture Made in Düsseldorf” at the World Expo and will highlight his project Kö-Bogen, a dynamic new office and retail complex for downtown Düsseldorf that marks an important transition between urban space and landscape.

Daniel Libeskind will deliver a keynote lecture at the University of Leeds marking the launch of a new institute dedicated to one of the most globally-celebrated social thinkers of our times. The Bauman Institute celebrates the life and work of Professor Zygmunt Bauman, who is known internationally for his work on consumerism, ethics, sociology and political philosophy.

In his presentation Daniel will address the role of architecture and design in contributing to making cities sustainable and liveable. Daniel will highlight some of his current projects in Singapore, Milan, Seoul, and New York.

The Forum for Urban Design will convene an expert panel of designers, developers, and managers responsible for significant mega-projects in the United States and abroad to discuss whether these projects represent the future of American urban development.
