Studio Daniel Libeskind today announced the first lighting design by founding architect Daniel Libeskind. Created in collaboration with Austrian lighting company Zumtobel, the limited-edition eL Masterpiece chandelier is distinguished by both its striking design and the sophisticated technology that underlies it. The chandelier, which made its debut at Art Basel Miami Beach December 1-4 2011, is only the fourth in Zumbotel’s Masterpiece series of stylistically and technically innovative designs by leading creative figures. The other Masterpieces are Starbrick (2009), by Danish-Icelandic artist Olafur Eliasson; VorteXX (2005), by British architect Zaha Hadid; and the LQ-P-Chandelier (2005), byNew York architect and artist Hani Rashid.


The opening of the Run Run Shaw Creative Media Centre is a cause for celebration for City University of Hong Kong (CityU). This landmark building epitomizes the leading role the University plays in education for creative media and communication professionals in support of Hong Kong’s economic development.

On the 10th anniversary of 9/11 Daniel Libeskind reflects on his Op-Ed from June 23, 2005, "From the Ashes" about his embattled master plan for rebuilding ground zero.
As the Zlota tower reaches its top floor, the Voivod Administrative Court (“WSA”) in Warsaw has reaffirmed validity of the Building Permit of Złota 44 and closed all outstanding proceedings related to the case. The construction of the skyscraper is no longer exposed to any legal risk regarding its Building Permit.
A series of world-class art and culture performances, exhibitions and symposia will be presented at City University of Hong Kong (CityU) to celebrate the grand opening of the Run Run Shaw Creative Media Centre (CMC).
Designed by architect Daniel Libeskind, CMC puts CityU in the worldwide league of institutions that possesses truly inspiring architecture, said Professor Way Kuo, President of CityU.
“The passion for creativity embodied in this building echoes our commitment to excellence in research and professional education,” he said.
The Jewish Museum Berlin celebrated its opening 10 years ago on September 9th 2001. Since it opened to the public on September 13th 2001 (it originally opened on 9/11 and then closed due to the attacks in NYC), the museum in Daniel Libeskind’s striking zig-zag building has become one of Berlin’s most frequented museums. Over 7,220,000 people from more than 40 countries have visited the Jewish Museum Berlin.

The Creative Media Centre at City University of Hong Kong (CityU) was officially named after Sir Run Run Shaw at a ceremony on March 17th 2011 to thank the internationally renowned movie and television magnate for his staunch support to the University over the years.
